Why we started The Andrew C. DeMarco Foundation

Andrew or “Dman”, as he was known by his friends, made an impact on many lives. To honor him and his memory, we wanted to create something that would live forever.

For over two years Andrew fiercely battled the rare and aggressive soft tissue cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma. Through it all he kept his amazing sense of humor, a positive attitude and his fighting spirit. He had more courage and strength than anyone we had ever met. He was truly inspiring.

Andrew would always say “I’ll keep fighting”, “I’m not a quitter”, “I do what I have to do”, “Someone else has it worse than me” or “Better me than someone else”. That was Andrew. He was selfless and a true fighter in every sense of the word. As a foundation we are committed to being like Andrew.

While it breaks our hearts that we could not save Andrew, as his family and friends, we are committed to keeping our promise to him and we will continue his fight. The Andrew C. DeMarco Foundation wants to help save the lives of current and future angiosarcoma patients. We know that cancer not only affects people physically, but also mentally, emotionally and financially. Patients are forced to live with a “new normal” that they didn’t ask for and we’re here to help. We want to prevent angiosarcoma patients, families and caregivers the pain and suffering that Andrew, his family and friends went through.

Andrew made it clear that he didn’t want to be forgotten and we would never let that happen. He was, and always will be, a fighter, a warrior, and our hero.
